Capturing the seasons colours

Every season has its signature colours and your favoured season palette often depends upon your personality and which you relate best to. However, as the weather brings a chill to the air we all want to warm up our homes for the colder months and Autumn’s colour palette is a favourite for many with its rich earthy tones so reminiscent of nature’s turning leaves.

This season we’ve been particularly inspired by the beautiful coppers, golds and yellows of Jane Churchill’s new Atmosphere collection and we’ve also been drawn back to Zoffany’s ‘Edo’ fabric and ‘Akaishi’ wallpaper collections; although drawing on Japanese design ethos and culture these collections are a beautiful interpretation of the natural world around us with colour palettes and designs drawn from Autumn.

Subtle yet inspirational colours such as golden yellows, creamy beiges, neutral browns and sage greens make the perfect back drop for stunning splashes of stronger colours such as burgundies, plums, rusts and oranges. As the seasons move from bright vibrant summer colours Autumn is telling us to slow down and enjoy nature as it hibernates for the winter.

Regardless of your style, nature has a colour palette for you. However, you don’t need to choose just one, take your favourite elements of each and create your own style. You obviously don’t want to be re-decorating every season but use cushions, throws and eye-catching rugs to make a nod to the season. Flower arrangements and plants can also pull your look together and warm up your home for the colder months. You could even simply arrange some pine cones or some bright red apples in your favourite bowl. Bringing the season in to your home needn’t be costly and hard work but quick and fun! A playful celebration of the natural world and an exploration of sense and colour.
