Basil Does… New Forest

Basil has been continuing his adventures this month with a little holiday to the New Forest. He enjoyed long walks gallivanting around the countryside and spectacular scenery in perfect Autumnal conditions. He had a few encounters with the New Forest ponies who wander freely all around the region but soon learned to give them a wide berth. The trees, just starting to turn their beautiful Autumnal colours of reds, oranges and browns against a gloriously blue sky, were truly inspirational and reminiscent of this seasons colours. We couldn’t have asked for better weather!

After a long day in the fresh air Basil was able to rest his paws at the lovely Burley Manor Hotel where he we was welcomed with his own towel, bowl and hand-baked biscuits on arrival. Set in extensive grounds and surrounded by Burley Park, a red deer Sanctuary – Basil wasn’t too sure about them either – the hotel has recently been beautifully refurbished. The decor is exquisite and luxurious with quirky modern twists achieved through fabric and upholstery whilst still retaining its long heritage and tradition.

Familiar with a number of the fabrics from his time in the shop, Basil felt very comfortable in his surroundings. No doubt inspired by their close proximity to Linwood Fabric which is based just up the road from Burley Manor in Ringwood. Whilst there we took the opportunity to pop in and view Linwood’s gorgeous new collection ‘Fable’. Fable draws its inspiration from the cultural tradition and creatures of storytelling around the globe. Fantastical worlds are brought together in a beautiful selection of prints, weaves and wallpapers. Thankfully Basil didn’t encounter any of these creatures whilst in the New Forest. You can view their new collection here.
